Invitation to

CASAE/CSSHE Graduate Student Pre-Conference

Following in the footsteps of the 2008 Congress pre-conference, the Canadian Association for the Study of Adult Education (CASAE) is inviting graduate students from the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education (CSSHE) and CASAE to the attend the second Graduate Student Pre-conference.  This event will focus on issues that students in the fields of adult education and higher education have identified as a priority.  The pre-conference is open to students participating in the CASAE or CSSHE conferences. 

 

Tentative Program

 

                                           9:00 to 9:30              Coffee and registration

                                           9:30 to 10:00            Welcome and introductions

                                          10:00 to 11:30           Career Transitions and Trajectories

                                                                               In this session, a panel will discuss their experiences from two

                                                                               perspectives: the transition from working life to graduate

                                                                               studies, and the transition from doctoral studies into           

                                                                              employment.  They will offer advice and insights on adjusting to

                                                                              graduate life and finding employment post-graduation.

                                          11:30 to 12:15          Lunch (provided on-site)

                                          12:15 to 1:45            Research Discussions

                                                                              Based on feedback from the 2008 pre-conference, students

                                                                              wanted opportunities to make connections with other students

                                                                              working on similar topics.  This break-out session will give

                                                                             students an opportunity to meet in small groups to share their

                                                                             research and strategies for proceeding through graduate studies.
